No use just complaining...

Recently, the government set out the plan that by 2030, there will be 6.9 million people in Singapore and only roughly half will be true blue Singaporeans. This triggered a conversation over dinner on migrating overseas, and how the government is overzealous on population growth. I kept very quiet about this because I know that population growth is inevitable and it is not because of selfish reasons that the statistics have to be as such. People who are unhappy will move to another country, people who can live with it will stay. It is just a natural phenomenon - something that is beyond our control because as an economy matures, we will inevitably have to depend on domestic spending to support the economy. An advanced economy can no longer depend on low-value added goods and services to sustain growth. This is just economics.

The point is that I think people complain too much and do too little. Many people just like to complain about their environment but are not helping much to execute realisable changes. Thus, many people think that just by voting against the government or having a negative voice against the government it will change matters. Collectively this may work over a long time, but what can work almost immediately is to shut-down the negative voice and start working towards something that is more viable and realistic.
