Do you think there is a generation gap?

Hi all my friends,

Just wanted to blog before I start studying...its the chapter on consolidation of businesses, showing us the different methods used by the IAS and US GAAP in consolidation of business segments. Sounds Cheam? It is cheam! Well, just trying to study as much as possible before the exam starts next SUNDAY....shit I am running out of time I must type faster.

So what's up? I actually noticed a wider and wider generation gap with the younger generation? Yes. I am not keeping up with their thoughts and emotions. Just like the recent blog featured in Straits Times (xiaxue.blogspot.com), when I read through her blogs I was like WOW.....you mean the younger people in their early twenties think like that....its good and bad...

Here's just to share some of the stuff I had noticed with younger generation

1) One of my friends, 21, told me that if she dislikes someone, she actually would replace the person's name with thinks like...sorry for the vulgalarity 'fucker', 'chee bye' etc. etc. when she records the person's name on her handphone...I was surprised....is it something that youngsters do nowadays? I mean though I dislike some individuals but I won't actually do that? If you have younger siblings do they do that as well?

2) In the channel U show, 'Come on Shoot' is the tagline. There was this young boy (14-15) saying this phrase, 'Act Blur, Live Longer'...I was like huh? This is actually a very good talk show. It is about how the young communicate with their parents nowadays, their interests and their views about sex, violence and other funny stuff. Honestly, the more I watch the show the more fearful I got of having kids. Period.

3) My brother, I am very close with him and he is actually one of the people that I can get good insight into the life of the very young (10-11). He is actually quite obedient infront of strangers (my colleagues, friends and relatives all commented that he is a nice good boy that is popular amongst most people). True enough, he has a lot of friends and is generally well-liked. But then in horror. I found out that he can play 8-10 hours of computer game a day. He even chalked up telephone bills up to $1300, because after I moved over to my new place, my mom and dad (which are computer illiterate) don't know that they can change to broadband. And myself... I also don't know that he was using it so often.

Kids are spending so much time on the net nowadays. Someone I know commented ' I don't watch TV nowadays, I am always online'...as getting online is more and more of a individual thing..it is actually bad to be online that often because you miss the opportunity of togetherness...like watching TV, eating dinner (very few teenagers like to eat dinner at the dining table - which has become the VASE of the house) and just plain discussing....guess what....all they do are all infront of the computer
