The Story of my IC Photo

Here's my identification card (IC) photo at age 30 (with some digital touch-up of course). Friends who were out with me recently would have noticed a difference - my permed hair. I actually had my hair permed for the photo-taking. The reason is not vanity or having too much money on my hands. I wanted to make sure that my IC would show a look that I would have more or less permanently. Of course, I would certainly hope that I would look slimmer in ten years time in comparison to the present.

Well, for the past 13 years, I have changed so much. This previous IC photo was taken when I was just 17 years old. I had this wierd hair band, no teeth smile, unpolished look. But I still looked better because I was 3o kgs lighter then - I am not joking I was much much slimmer then, I could fit in to a size M. Now my usual size is XXL. Anyways, since my IC photo is going to probably last me till I die (which I hope I don't go beyond 80). I have to make sure that at least I stay almost the same or better than the photo above.

My resolution after getting my new IC, which also symbolises that I turned the big 3-0 would be that I would only want to look better and better after 30. I find that people who sleep more and exercise more tend to look and feel younger. Maybe I should start to find myself a curfew right now.

Sleep at 12am each night and exercise 30 minutes three times a week?

Let me try.

Cheerful CC.

Just as a follow up to this story there is more. The lady from the ICA called me up and told me that there is a discrepancy between the name on the identity card and their system. I was thinking hey that is your problem. Then she wouldn't really let me talk so I said: Miss, can you please let me say one sentence. By the way, she is the second civil servant that is like that, keep rattling away and won't let me talk.

In the end, I told her that I will get my Chinese name formally changed to the existing one via a lawyer's office and this document called deed poll. Sigh, I really hope that everyone in the service line should just practice one thing - which is to listen first before speaking.

This lady and the other one from HDB parking would keep rattling and rattling on without stopping. When actually, I just need to clarify something with them and that would be able to resolve the issue on hand.

Shucks!
